Tamarind Drink – African Food Recipes!

In this video i am going to show you how i make tamarind drink also known as Tomidji in west Africa.
So for this you will need:
½ cup fresh tamarind pulp
3 cups of water
½ of sugar or to taste
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1 packet of vanilla sugar
In a large bowl, add the tamarind pulp with a cup of water and let it rest for at least 40 minutes to overnight.
Then use your hand to extract the juice from the tamarind pulp.
Then add the remaining water and mix.
Then use a strainer to filter the juice.
The last step is to add sugar and vanilla.
Now transfer the juice in a container and keep it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours until it quite cold.
And voila, your drink is ready.
