It’s about female genital mutilation, a procedure performed on young girls in 30 countries. Years later, as refugees in the U.S., these women can suffer serious medical complications … even death. Talking about it is usually taboo. So is getting medical treatment for it.
In part two of a special report, KPBS Fronteras reporter Jean Guerrero and video journalist Katie Schoolov follow a San Diego woman hoping to break those taboos.
