Art for Advent 2020—Harriet Powers Powers’ resilience, creativity, and faith is an example to all of us in this season. Welcome to Art for Advent and the SeeingArtHistory classroom’s discussion of the African American artists Harriet Powers. Born into slavery near Athens Georgia in 1837, Harriet Powers was one of the most extraordinary artists of America’s Post-Civil War period.
